As a Middle Easterner, Gold has always been a big part of my life. I remember trying on all my mother’s and grandmother’s heavy gold jewellery whenever they would make an appearance out of the safe. I still have my own gold bracelets, rings and earrings I used to wear when I was only 3! The UAE itself is known for it’s over the top love affair with the precious metal. I mean, where else can you find a gold bar ATM? {the answer is nowhere}
So it was only fitting to be part of LoveGold’s celebration of the Middle East’s gold jewellery designers. Shot at 2 of my most loved places in old Dubai, Bastakiya and The Gold Souk, I got a chance to adorn myself in some of my favorite pieces by Bil Arabi, La Collection Privée, Phioro and Dima Jewellery. The calligraphy inspired Bil Arabi jewellery combines the world of art and fashion perfectly, don’t you think?
With such a great team of people to work with, such as photographer Moez Achour and makeup guru, Kate Goodwin, it is only fair to say that there will be more love for gold with LoveGold on LLF!
